FMI 2005 Productivity Conference Issue
Greetings!
On October 23, Peter, Tom Walton, Tom Bauer and Richard will
be found in booth number 1017 at the 2005 FMI Productivity
Conference. The event will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort
and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.
The show will run for three days starting on Sunday. As of this
writing, there are 367 confirmed attendees.
Stop by our booth, number 1017, to see us. We can talk to
you about:
- Inbound Traffic Management Software
- Dock Scheduling Software
- Carrier Web based scheduling
- Freight Payment Services
- Inbound Logistics Services
- .NET Report Viewer
- BGI Web Services
- Your suggestions on how to make our products more valuable to
you.
Tech Talk - .NET Report Viewer:
BGI has released the production version of our .NET Report Viewer.
This product allows you to run TMS-2000 or SmartDock reports from
any place with Internet access to the database. Reports are saved
on your local PC for later viewing and analysis. Reports can be
produced in Rich Text, CSV, PDF and Excel spreadsheet formats. Saved
reports can be emailed or faxed from the Viewer on your PC. The
Viewer can be used on a local area network (LAN), wide area network
(WAN), or the Internet.
BGI Web Services
BGI Web Services is an Internet communications module that enhances
carrier dispatching from TMS-2000. It supports carrier web tendering,
confirmation of load receipt, pick up confirmations at the vendor,
and progressive dispatch where multiple carriers can be prioritized
and assigned to a load. Web services volume has grown dramatically
year-to-date with 58 users booking 48,657 loads.
Freight Payment Services Enhancement:
Our customers using ABMI Freight Payment Services will notice
an enhancement to our carrier payment system. In the past, a carrier
would receive one freight payment from each division of your company.
This caused misapplication of funds at the carrier level as multiple
checks could be printed for a single load with more than one drop.
A programming enhancement has been completed to our Freight Management
System (FMS) which applies all freight payments for a
multi-drop load onto a single carrier check.
State of the Union on Transportation:
DC Velocity has a three article series running on their web site
about the state of transportation services in the country.
Very interesting reading. Here is the link to part one of
the series. Parts two and three are linked at the bottom of
their web page: http://www.dcvelocity.com/articles/20051001/operationsinsight1.cfm
SmartDock RIO and TCO:
If you are contemplating buying a dock scheduling system, check
out our web site at http://www.bgiweb.com/SiteResources/Data/Templates/templated.asp?DocID=606
for a discussion on SmartDock Return On Investment (ROI) and Total
Cost of Ownership (TCO).
BGI has a new web site, URL, and logos:
Check it out at www.bgiweb.com.
The old URL was www.bgint.com. Any hits to that site will automatically
be redirected to the new site URL. You'll also notice with the new
domain, bgiweb.com, that our email addresses have also changed.
For example, support@bgiweb.com is now support@bgiweb.com.
While the old addresses still work, it would be best to update your
email address book with these changes.
Conferences BGI will attend in 2005:
UniPro Fall Purchasing Conference - Dallas TX - Wyndham Anatole
Hotel, Oct 16 - 19
FMI Productivity Conference - Orlando, Florida - Gaylord Palms Hotel,
Oct 23 - 25
