BGI International Newsletter
July 2004

Greetings!

In our May newsletter, we announced that the Inbound Logistics Magazine editorial team had selected BGI International as a 2004 Top 100 Logistics IT Provider. This article appeared in the May 2004 issue of Inbound Logistics, and is posted on their web site. This logo links to Inbound Logistics' web site for the 2004 Top 100 Logistics IT Providers.
To make this decision, Inbound Logistics editors compared and researched more than 300 Logistics IT providers--from the largest, most well-known companies to the smaller niche providers. The main criteria was not size or revenue, but providing logistics IT solutions that best meet their readers' diverse needs. BGI fits that criteria. Thank you for helping to make it so. www.inboundlogistics.com

Web Services Security. In case you were wondering - BGI takes Web security very seriously; we employ a highly respected 3rd party provider to host a dedicated server for us. The physical site of the servers is a state of the art hardened facility specifically designed against forced physical and or electronic entry. This facility has the latest data security firewalls, fire suppression systems; battery and Diesel generator power back ups, etc. In January of this year, BGI engaged one of the Midwest’s top firms in Internet security to instigate a hacker attack on our servers; which did not succeed. This company installs and consults on banking industry security systems through out North America. What this means to you is that BGI servers are at a site that is designed to protect your data against calamities, natural and man-made.

TMS-2000 - The .Net Report Viewer will be ready to ship in August, 2004. This product offers the ability to access your TMS-2000 database and run any report over the Internet. For more information on this product, please contact Tom Walton or Peter Rappe. For more information on .Net with a technical slant visit the web sites listed in the side bar.

How many support technicians does it take to...
BGI uses a support issue tracking system called HEAT from Front Range Solutions. In the month of July, 2004, Dale, Dave, Doug an David (your name has to begin with a "D" to work in BGI support) handled 303 calls and spent 9,298 minutes with you on the phone or logged in over the web. This includes upgrades and new installations of TMS-2000 and SmartDock.

What are the top issues? Technical problems causes by failing hardware, unconditioned power supplies and changed IT configurations.

Offshore Development - This is a timely topic as we continue to get questions about it. BGI does NOT use third party developers, in country or out. 100% of the code we use in our software products is written in Olathe, Kansas by BGI employee engineers.
