BGI International was incorporated in the State of Ohio in 1988. The principals, Tom Bauer and Richard Gramza, have nearly 50 years of combined experience in the food and drug distribution industry.   Tom Bauer was the Manager of Traffic Operations for The Kroger Co., managing a $150 million dollar traffic operation.   Richard Gramza was the Operations Manager for Arcadian Motor Carriers, a large national refrigerated motor carrier, prior to the formation of BGI.

While performing Third Party logistics for clients in the food and drug distribution industry, Tom and Richard realized the tremendous potential for new income that their customers could capture from inbound traffic management. BGI International developed the TMS-90 Traffic Management System. TMS-90 was the first traffic management tool designed to enable comprehensive inbound freight control in one fully integrated system.

Today, BGI International strives to improve and enhance their software programs based on customer feedback. TMS-2000 is a Windows/NT, client-server traffic management application that is the culmination of the last 13 years of customer input and design.   SmartDock is a dock door scheduling program that was developed in 1996 and is currently in use at multiple distribution centers. ABMI is the billing and freight payment division of BGI International, providing the lowest rates, the finest customer service, and the fastest rebate returns in the freight payment industry. BGI Logistics is the third party logistics provider specializing in inbound traffic management for the food distribution industry.
